Vegetabled Burgers were substituted with Calgary BBQ and homemade buns!

Submitted by admin on June 17, 2010 – 6:46 PMNo Comment

2 tbps vegetable oil (can use olive oil)

1 onion (maybe 2 bunches of green onions?)

1 tbsp cumin (ideally fresh, but can use dry)

1.5 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp oregano (again, preferably fresh, but could use dry)

(I might be able to graciously acquire some fresh basil from my old and possible current home, this recipe originally doesn’t call for it)

19 oz can black beans drained, rinsed, and roughly pureed

.25 cup fresh parsley chopped (can take out if needed, especially if adding basil or some other fresh spices I will joyously procure hopefully)

2 tbsp sesame oil

1/2 cup roasted/chopped almonds (maybe go with alternate fancy nut for the hell of it, something comparable to almonds, but not bitter (i.e. not walnuts, well, maybe walnuts.  Yeah, walnuts, roasted walnuts?)

1 cup sunflower seeds, roasted/chopped (again, maybe a substitution of some kind of couscous or something crazy… will try crazy substitutions for regular ones after first testing regular substitutions, so remain sunflower for now…)

3 cups fine bread crumbs

half cup soy sauce

5 eggs

2 cups grated carrots

2 cups oats

flour for dredging if using pan fry, else just saute onions and garlic, let cool, and remaining ingredients.

———————————————–

Other things burgers like (wholewheat buns, red onion, tomato, various cheeses, garlic mayo)
